I, Katie, am a wife, mother to 3 awesome kiddos, and a photographer. I started my photography journey in early 2015 when my youngest was turning 1. I fell in love fast and hard. The main reason I wanted to learn was so I could have really great photos of my children and family. It became that and so much more. I study hard and practice all the time. Stillwater has always been my home. I love getting to use this beautiful area as my backdrop for your photos. I studied at Oklahoma State University and have a Bachelors in English. I love to read, sew, listen to music, and of course take photos. My style is authentic and photojournalistic. It is my goal as your photographer to capture moments with your loved ones that you will treasure forever. I want my work to evoke emotion. And most importantly, I want you to feel the love that I have for this every time you look at one of my photos. I love it all, but I especially love capturing those moments in between. Those are the memories I want you to hold in your heart forever.
I started work in birth photography in September 2015. I really feel like births are my calling. I am a member of the International Association of Professional Birth Photographers and Oklahoma Birth Photographers. My passion for birth started when I was pregnant with my oldest, Emersyn. I joined the group Birth Connections of Stillwater, which I now help lead. After the home birth of my second daughter (you can read my birth story here), I fell even more in love with the birth world. Women are such an incredible creation, and our bodies are made to do wonderful things. I'm amazed after every birth I photograph, and it leaves me longing for more. I want to document those moments for you, I want to be your birth photographer.
I began my journey into newborn photographer in January 2016. I took a course through The Milky Way, and I shadowed a fellow photographer in Dec of 15. I fell in love from the moment I had my first session. I worked hard over the following months, photographing every baby I could get my hands on. A lot of studying, hard work, and determination has led me to the beautiful images you see on my website today. I learn something new and great with each baby I photograph, and I'm so thankful to the parents who choose me to capture their new little love. What made me fall in love with newborn photography? It's their hair. It is the softest, most amazing thing on this planet, newborn baby downy hair. Ok, maybe it's more than just their hair. Truly, I love taking your fresh newborn baby and creating beautiful art for you, their parents, to have forever.
